International service company Serco, based in Hook in Hampshire, has produced a contract which will involve contact centres being outsourced in a £430m deal. The Business Process Oursourcing (BPO) contract has been made to improve efficiency of customer contact services for Shop Direct Group, a UK retail company. Christopher Hyman is Chief Executive of the Serco Group.

Intertek, which provides quality and safety solutions, has acquired Vigalab, a Chile-based minerals testing laboratory. The acquisition strengthens Interteks international minerals capabilities and extends its delivery of quality solutions in support of the expanding market in Latin America. Intertek recorded turnover of £1.7bn in 2011 and had 31,712 employees.

Outsourcing company Serco has secured contracts worth a combined £4bn in 2012, including £300m of IT contracts. New business has been gained with a variety of organisations including the NHS, Shop Direct and the State Bank of India.
