Alliance Boots recorded an 18% increase in revenue to 23bn in the year to March 2012. Trading profit increased 12.4% to 1.2bn. The strong performance was achieved through organic growth and acquisitions. The group expects profitable growth and international expansion to continue despite the difficult economic environment.

Environmental health company Healthy Buildings (Ireland) is investing over £160,000 in an expansion which will create 15 jobs. The Belfast-based firm has received £30,000 from Invest NI to create a marketing strategy for Scotland and the north of England. It employs 60 people and hopes to increase sales in Great Britain to £500,000 by 2013.
