Environmental health company Healthy Buildings (Ireland) is investing over £160,000 in an expansion which will create 15 jobs. The Belfast-based firm has received £30,000 from Invest NI to create a marketing strategy for Scotland and the north of England. It employs 60 people and hopes to increase sales in Great Britain to £500,000 by 2013.

Germany-based Symrise recorded sales growth of 3% to 225m euros in its scent and care division for the first quarter of 2012 compared with the 2011 first quarter. Earnings for scent and care increased 4% to 45m euros. Across all divisions, sales increased 4% in the first quarter, to 432.6m euros. The company anticipates further growth in 2012.

Chemicals group Croda recorded a 4.7% sales increase to 291m in the three months to March 2012, while pre-tax profits increased by 7.2% to 65.1m. An increased focus on higher-value products and better pricing more than offset a reduction in volumes. Revenues have more than tripled over the 10 years to 2012. 2010 turnover 1bn, 3,303 employees.
