Craftsman Tools has invested £300,000 to expand its factory in Otley, West Yorkshire, following increased demand for its products. Four jobs have been created and more are expected. The firm, which employs 60 people, increased 2011 sales by 39% to £4.8m and similar growth is expected in 2012. It hopes to increase turnover to £6m.

Staffordshire-based Doncasters Group recorded an 11% increase in revenues to £745m in 2011 but its loss increased from £9.3m in 2010 to £11.5m in 2011, after exceptional items of £63.2m for the year. Its owner, Dubai International Capital, is investing £5.5m to fund an acquisition and business growth is expected in 2012.

Wood Group GTS, which provides services for turbo-machinery, is opening a 10,000 square foot site in Lincoln as part of its UK growth strategy. Twenty existing employees will relocate to the new site and 10 new jobs will be created. Wood Group GTS has annual turnover of £3.5bn and employs 41,000 people worldwide.

Aberdeen-based energy services company, John Wood Group, holds sufficient funds for further acquisitions following its £600m takeover of Production Services Network in December 2010. All of its divisions are delivering good growth and the company is on schedule to achieve its full-year targets. 2010 turnover £3bn, 23,856 employees.
