Hilton has secured funding from the government Growing Places fund to redevelop the vacant Joplings department store in Sunderland into a 119-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel with new shops. The development is expected to create employment and business opportunities. 2010 turnover 61.1m.

Economy brand Hampton by Hilton is to open its 10th UK hotel in Birmingham city centre. The 285-room hotel will be operated by Sanguine Hospitality Ltd. Elaine Grahame is the general manager.

Bedfordshire headquartered Premier Inn Hotels Ltd, along with Reef Estates Limited, have submitted plans to build a 10m hotel in Winchester, Hampshire. If approved, the hotel would be built next to the citys fire station, and approximately 55 jobs would be created as a direct result. The hotel would have 101 bedrooms and parking for up to 87 cars.
