Smith & Nephew are proposing to move the manufacturing of some products from its factory in Hull to China with the loss of up to 70 jobs by the end of next year. The company remains committed to the future of the Hull site and has created 100 additional jobs since opening its facility in China in 2009.

Corin Group has appointed Iain Slater as Finance Director with effect from 25 June 2012. Current Finance Director, Michael Roller, will resign from the board at that time and leave the business after a hand over. Iain will also become Company Secretary. Peter Huntley is Chief Executive Officer.

Croydon-based SLE Ltd, which manufactures neonatal ventilators, was named Business of the Year at the Croydon Business Awards 2012. SLE, which exports over 90% of its products to 80 countries worldwide was selected to receive the award because of its search for manufacturing excellence. 2011 turnover £12.6m, 77 employees.

Llanelli-based Chromogenex Technologies expects turnover to increase from £6.9m to £12.5m in 2012 following strong US sales of its non-surgical slimming device. It has received £290,000 from the Welsh Government Single Investment Fund and has created 19 jobs and purchased equipment to reduce manufacturing costs.
