Irish dairy and ingredients group Glanbia has agreed to sell its local rights to Yoplait back to the yoghurt maker. Under the agreement, Yoplait will reacquire the franchise for EUR18m and will progressively take over responsibility for production, marketing and account management in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. As a result, production will cease at Glanbia's facility in Inch, Co. Wexford with the loss of 50 jobs.

Belfast-based Premier Bakeries Ireland has appointed Trevor McCrum as business unit director. Mr McCrum will lead the development of a commercial strategy for sales in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Ulster Bank, Ltd, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland has agreed severance terms for 950 redundancies being made as part of a restructuring strategy. The bank plans to close branches and reduce front desk and back-office operations.

Environmental health company Healthy Buildings (Ireland) is investing over £160,000 in an expansion which will create 15 jobs. The Belfast-based firm has received £30,000 from Invest NI to create a marketing strategy for Scotland and the north of England. It employs 60 people and hopes to increase sales in Great Britain to £500,000 by 2013.
