As part of the Miller hps consortium, Miller Construction has secured a 22m contract to build a 9,500 sq m emergency care centre at Gateshead Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The contract was awarded through the ProCure 21+ Framework. The consortium also includes Guildhouse UK and Community Ventures (Management). The contract is expected to create employment opportunities. 2010 turnover 297m, 408 employees.

Peel Holdings is to cut 15 security staff at MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester after a review of security levels. The security contract is with G4S, which intends to re-deploy as many officers as possible. The changes are to take affect from 1st July 2012.

Taylor Wimpey has secured planning approval to build 152 new homes on agricultural land in Midlothian. The development, which must start within three years, has the potential to create employment and business opportunities. 2011 turnover £1.8bn, 3,529 employees.
