London Fire Brigade's new control centre in Merton, London, has been officially opened, creating 100 jobs. The Government is investing £2.25m in the future purchase of a new ‘999’mobilising system. The fire service’s National Co-ordination Centre, will move from West Yorkshire to the new centre in April 2011.

The Blue Light Partnership, comprising Miller Construction and Bilfinger Berger Project Investments, is the preferred bidder for the £129m Avon and Somerset Police Accommodation PFI Project. The project comprises the development of four new facilities at Portishead, Bristol Patchway, Keynsham and Bridgwater in the South West. The contract also includes responsibility for maintaining the buildings for 25 years. In addition to supplying project investment, Miller Construction has been appointed principal contractor. Chris Webster is Chief Executive is Miller Construction.
