Creating 120 jobs - new car parts distribution centre - regeneration strategy
As part of a £62m regeneration strategy led by Derbyshire County Council, a car parts distribution centre is being built at the Markham Vale business park near Chesterfield. Approximately 120 jobs will be created at the centre, which is being built by Leeds firm Andrew Page. Construction work should be finished by August 2012.

Regional expansion strategy - creating jobs
Energy management consultancy Orchard Energy is expanding into the Midlands and South East. By February 2012 it plans to have teams in place in Redhill, Surrey; and Northampton; and is also creating new jobs at its head office in West Yorkshire. The expansion follows strong UK growth.

Rutland factory to close - 31 jobs lost
Generator firm Cummins is closing a factory it co-owns in Oakham, Rutland, with the loss of 31 jobs. The factory will close in April 2012 with production moved to Mexico and Japan. Cummins had a 40 per cent share in the company and Sawafuji a 60 per cent share.

PwC has appointed Helen Nixseaman as the new head of its risk assurance practice in the Midlands. She has more then 20 years experience in risk assurance and joined the Midlands team in 2011. Mark Smith is regional chairman of PwC in the Midlands.

Acquires Forcetenco - expansion of technology for visually impaired
Northampton-based Sight and Sound Technology has acquired Surrey-based The Force Ten Company (Forcetenco) for an undisclosed sum. Forcetenco specialises in low vision aids and assistive hearing products and the acquisition will strengthen Sight and Sound's range of technology for the visually impaired.

£15m factory extension - 12 jobs created - £1m loan
Eco Plastics is creating 12 new jobs after receiving a £1.15m loan from a Government-backed initiative. The company is building a £15m expansion to its plastics recycling plant near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Jonathan Short is managing director.

150 jobs lost - Reduced production - Markets challenging
Glass manufacturer Pilkington is to reduce production at its factory in St Helens, Merseyside, with the loss of 150 jobs. The company plans to cut 3,500 jobs worldwide due to weak building product markets and a slowdown in solar energy glass. It employs around 3,000 people in the UK.

Factory Closure - Production Moved Abroad - 31 Jobs Lost
Alternator firm Markon Sawafuji in Oakham are to close its factory after 10 years, resulting in the loss of 31 jobs. The company is a joint venture between Cummins Generator Technologies in Stamford and Sawafuji in Japan. Production will now be moved to Mexico and Japan and the factory has been put on the market.

Company expansion - 12 New Jobs
L & M Glazing, who trade as Leivers and Millership, the double-glazing company is expanding its business with a £1m investment in Hucknall Lane Service Centre on the Hucknall/Bulwell border, which it is continuing to run as a garage whilst developing the site further by adding new MOT bays, a showroom and tool hire centre in the coming months.
