Opening Corby pub - 45 potential new jobs
JD Wetherspoon is opening a new pub in Corby, Northamptonshire, following the success of its existing premises in town. Up to 45 jobs are expected to be created. The pub will be developed by Mulberry. JD Wetherspoon recorded £1bn turnover in 2011.

Escorted travel specialist Page & Moy has been acquired by cruise line operator All Leisure for £4.2m. Job losses are expected as a result of the takeover.

Multi-million pound contract secured - potential new jobs
Siemens Service in Lincoln has secured a multi-million pound contract to provide gas turbines for a natural gas project in Australia. The Lincoln operation has achieved record sales following a major investment. Siemens is relocating part of the business in September 2012. The firm currently has 1,500 employees; further jobs could be created as result of its expansion.

200 new jobs - Derby call centre expansion
Call centre operator HEROtsc is recruiting 200 more staff at its Derby contact centre which handles calls for Sky. HEROtsc took over the former Egg call centre in December 2011 and initially planned to recruit 800 people. 200 more jobs will be added in summer 2012 making a total of 1,000 employees at the site.

200 new jobs - Mercia Marina expansion - 6.4m funding secured
Madecorn Leisure has secured 6.4m funding from The Co-operative Bank to build a pub and restaurant, and 11 retail units, at Mercia Marina in Derbyshire. The expansion will create 60 jobs.

Placed into administration - cashflow difficulties
Cambridgeshire-based motor sports companies Lola Cars International Ltd and Lola Composites Ltd have been placed into administration, putting jobs at risk. The companies have experienced financial difficulties due to the economic downturn and the loss of R&D tax credits from HMRC. Discussions will continue with possible investors and prospective purchasers.

Loss of £1.5m - Sales down 1.2% to £414m - Challenging trading environment
UK manufacturer Bakkavor has recorded a net loss of £1.5m for the three months to the end of March 2012, compared to a net profit of £8.1m in the previous year. Net sales in the period dropped 1.2% to £413.9m, however like-for-like sales grew 3.1%. Raw material inflation and a challenging trading environment has affected the company. Agust Gudmundsson is the chief executive.

The contract with Derbyshire County Council is deliver 197 new apartments and community facilities, in Chesterfield, Alfreton and Clay Cross. Opens Derby headquarters - business expansion - potential new jobs
Food Search Worldwide, which sources products on behalf of high street retailers and restaurant chains, has opened new headquarters in Derby. It has taken a five-year lease on two warehouse units, totalling 15,070 sq ft, following exceptional business growth. Six staff have relocated to the new site and four more will be recruited.
