Restructuring strategy - losses continue
Close Asset Management recorded a loss in its 2012 interim results but its restructuring strategy has entered its final stage. Private client assets under management increased from £6.9bn to £7bn over the three months to the end of April 2012. Turnover in 2011 was £32m, 399 employees.

Plymouth store closing - job losses
Fashion retailer Zara is closing its store at the Drake Circus shopping centre in Plymouth, with the loss of a significant number of jobs. The store will close on 1 June 2012. The lease on the store has been for sale since 2009. 2011 turnover 332.5m, 2,305 employees.

230 potential new jobs - leisure expansion at Broughton Park
British Land plans to build an 11-screen cinema and five restaurants at Broughton Shopping Park in Flintshire, Wales. The expansion of the site would create 230 new jobs. British Land recorded turnover of £298m in 2011 and employed 555 staff.

New Store - 80 New Jobs - Completion in 2013
Retail giant Debenhams is expecting to move into a 30,000 square foot store at a retail park is earmarked for land in Scunthorpe with work due to begin in October 2012. The company expect to begin trading in 2013 creating around 80 jobs.

Five new appointments - business expansion
Expanding market research company DVL Smith has appointed five new members of staff: Laura Cullimore and Ioannis Kokkotos have been appointed as consultants, Richard Heafield joins as junior analyst in the analytics team and Katerina Angelovska joins as assistant office manager. Kaori Yamamoto, who was previously a qual research executive at Firefish, also joins the London-based company.

Ibis Fulham expansion - potential new jobs
Accor is expanding the Ibis hotel in Fulham, London with an extra 260 rooms, due to high demand in the area. The hotel will have 774 beds following the expansion. A new health club, restaurant and shops will also be built. The investment is expected to create new jobs.
