Creating 50 jobs - Olympics cause increased demand - contact centre expansion
Scotland-based contact centre operator Journeycall, is recruiting up to 50 more employees to deal with an expected increase in customer calls related to the 2012 Olympics. Clients include major transport firms such as Stagecoach, Go-Ahead and Transport for London, as well as London Councils. Trisha Pirie is MD of Journeycall.

£10m funding secured - new decommissioning facility - creating 150 jobs
Lerwick Port Authority has secured £10m funding from the Scottish Government to part-fund a decommissioning centre of excellence in Shetland. The development is expected to create 150 jobs. AF Decom Offshore UK will develop the project which will create a deep-water site for the UK offshore sector.

200 new jobs - Derby call centre expansion
Call centre operator HEROtsc is recruiting 200 more staff at its Derby contact centre which handles calls for Sky. HEROtsc took over the former Egg call centre in December 2011 and initially planned to recruit 800 people. 200 more jobs will be added in summer 2012 making a total of 1,000 employees at the site.

Manchester office opened - funding secured for hospital developments
Robertson Group is to commence work on two major hospital developments in Cumbria. Funding has been secured for the £11m Cockermouth Community Hospital and £4m Cleator Moor Health Centre. Robertson opened a new office in Manchester in April 2012. 2011 turnover £204.5m, 1,039 employees.

Proposed New Store - 330 Jobs Created - £25m Investment
Supermarket chain Morrisons plans to redevelop a former B&Q site in Kirkcaldy. The £25million store would also have a petrol station and parking for more than 400 cars. It is expected the project will be completed by the summer of next year and create around 330 jobs.

22m hospital contract secured - new emergency care centre - potential new jobs
As part of the Miller hps consortium, Miller Construction has secured a 22m contract to build a 9,500 sq m emergency care centre at Gateshead Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The contract was awarded through the ProCure 21+ Framework. The consortium also includes Guildhouse UK and Community Ventures (Management). The contract is expected to create employment opportunities. 2010 turnover 297m, 408 employees.

Collaboration with Scottish energy firm - Future jobs
Wind tower producer Wind Towers Limited, based in Perth is to collaborate with Dunfermline based Burcote Wind who is to invest 1bn in developing wind farms in Scotland. The collaboration includes an apprenticeship and training scheme to help create lasting jobs in Scotland. Wind Towers is a joint venture between SSE Venture Capital and Marsh Wind Technology. The company is to collaborate with Scotlands only wind tower producer, Wind Towers Limited based in Perth and includes collaborating on an apprenticeship and training scheme to help create lasting jobs in Scotland. Business expansion - 19m acquisition - Northern Ireland gas supplier to be purchased
Energy giant SSE Plc is to acquire Belfast headquartered Phoenix Supply, the largest natural gas supplier in Northern Ireland, for 19.1m. The company, which has 130,000 customers, is being acquired from its private equity owner Terra Firma. SSE has agreed a deal through its wholly-owned subsidiary Airtricity Energy Supply (Northern Ireland) to buy the entire issued share capital in Phoenix Supply and to purchase Phoenix Energy, which supplies gas in the Republics deregulated commercial supply market. Alistair Phillips-Davies is Generation and Supply Director of SSE.
