£2.7m cost savings plan - major IT investment - technology partners appointed
Bristol City Council has selected Capgemini UK and ClickSoftware Technologies Ltd to provide an automated workforce management system which will save £2.7m a year in operational costs by 2014. The IT system will help improve organisation of repairs and maintenance of 28,000 local homes.

Returns to profit - turnover falls to £82.21m
Recruitment company Eden Brown recorded profits of £1.6m for the year to March 2011, compared with a loss of £1.22m the previous year. During the year is reduced administrative costs by approximately £4m and reduced staff headcount from 188 to 178. Turnover fell from £87.81m to £82.21m.

£129m police accommodation project
The Blue Light Partnership, comprising Bilfinger Berger Project Investments and Miller Construction, is the preferred bidder for the £129m Avon and Somerset Police Accommodation PFI Project. The project comprises the development of four new facilities at Portishead, Bristol Patchway, Keynsham and Bridgwater in the South West. The contract also includes responsibility for maintaining the buildings for 25 years. Construction work is expected to commence in summer 2012 with the buildings being open from 2014.

400 new jobs - expansion of manufacturing site
Supermarket Morrisons is creating 400 jobs at a new manufacturing site in Somerset by 2014. The company's distribution centre is being extended to provide a fruit and vegetable store and packhouse which will reduce the company's road miles by two million each year. In 2011 Morrison¢€™s recorded £16.48bn turnover and employed 132,074 staff.
