Merseyside-based Aimia Foods recorded a 3% increase in turnover to £52.87m in the year to June 2011 helped by strong sales of its newly launched No Fear Extreme Energy Drink. Somerset-based Windyridge Cheese Ltd has been acquired by entrepreneur Melvin Glynn for an undisclosed sum. Mr Glynn, who was previously managing director of Burt's Chips, believes the company is well positioned for growth. Windyridge Cheese's expansion could create business and employment opportunities. Its turnover for the year to July 2009 was £1.1m.

Profits double - Turnover down at cheese maker
Cheese maker Joseph Heler, based in Nantwich, Cheshire, has recorded a rise in operating profit of £2.2m for the year to September 2011. This is up from £1.2m in 2010. Turnover has fallen to £60m from £60.2m in 2010.
