80 jobs created - contact centre expansion - business growth
Communications firm Daisy has created 80 new jobs at its call centre in Nelson, Lancashire. The centre is to become an all day operation following a period of business growth. Approximately 700 people are already employed at the Nelson call centre as part of a nationwide team of 1,500. 2011 turnover £266.3m.

Acquires Firstserv and Serverstream - cloud computing expansion - jobs safeguarded
Six Degrees has acquired managed hosting and cloud providers Firstserv and Serverstream. The London-based companies will add £3m of hosting revenues to Six Degrees managed data division and are part of a strategy to expand cloud hosting services. Seventeen employees will join Six Degrees Group as a result of the acquisitions.

Acquires Certiport - expansion of professional testing business
Person Plc is acquiring US-based Certiport Inc. from Spire Capital Partners for 140m dollars. The acquisition will strengthen Pearsons professional testing business. Rapidly-expanding Certiport, which develops certification exams and practice tests of IT and digital literacy skills, recorded revenues of 48m dollars in 2011.

London based Moonfruit Limited, the UKs leading DIY website and online shop builder, has been acquired by Yell, a leading provider of digital services. The total cash consideration for the acquisition is approximately 18 million, funded out of Yells cash reserves. Mike Pocock is Chief Executive Officer of Yell.

Product development ongoing - commercial launch planned
Motive Television is making progress in its BCJV LLC joint venture with Granite Broadcasting Corporation, to enable Television Anytime Anywhere over broadcast television to tablet devices. A Technical Feasibility Analysis and Business Plan has been approved. Technical development of the product will begin in June 2012, leading to a commercial launch in Spring 2013. 2010 turnover £1.3m.

640 jobs at risk - compulsory redundancies delayed
IT services company CSC is reducing headcount in the UK by 640 in the second phase of a wider programme affecting 1,100 jobs in total. The company has delayed compulsory redundancies until as many at-risk staff as possible can be found jobs at other companies that require similar skills.
