Acquires manufacturing plant - expansion into collagen products - potential new jobs
Angel Biotechnology Holdings has acquired the assets of a biomaterial and collagen manufacturer through its newly formed subsidiary Angel Biomedical. The £200,000 investment includes a 6,500 square feet manufacturing plant in Glasgow. Angel Biomedical will supply collagen, as well as extended services, such as product development. The expansion could create employment opportunities.

Opens Cramlington plant - potential new jobs
Angel Biotechnology Holdings, has completed the commissioning of its facility in Cramlington, Northumberland. The facility will be involved in the production of cell therapies, antibody purification and production of recombinant proteins. Five employees have already been recruited and five more jobs are expected later in 2012.

£500,000 capital investment - diversifies into drug testing - jobs created
Norwich-based Anglia DNA Services is investing £500,000 in a new drug testing laboratory, creating 3 jobs. Sales have increased 30% since a contract to supply Boots with paternity testing kits was secured in 2010. Talks to supply to the kits to further stores are underway. Turnover is expected to increase from £1.2m to £1.7m in 2012.

Cambridge laboratories opened - potential new jobs
Biotechnology company Fahy Gurteen UK Ltd has taken a six-year lease on 8,000 sq ft of laboratory and office space at Cambridge Research Park in Cambridge. The Dubin-based company, which specialises in cancer research, is expected to create jobs as a result of its expansion.

New product launched with partner - Contract extended worth £300,000
Byotrol plc, the developer of anti microbial hygiene technologies, and partner Rentokil Initial Plc, have formally launched the UltraProtect range, powered by Byotrol, under a contract announced in July 2011. UltraProtect is a range of hand and surface sanitising products for commercial and public use, featuring a gel hand sanitiser, a foam hand sanitiser, and handy packs of hand and surface wipes. In addition, Byotrol has agreed terms for a six month extension of the Joint Development Agreement ('JDA') with their Fortune 150 partner company, for which Byotrol Consumer Products Limited will receive $300,000. Gary Millar is the Chief Executive of Byotrol Plc.

Revenue £3m - Loss for year expected - New Commercial Director
Angel Biotechnology, the biopharmaceutical contract manufacturer, has achieved a revenue of £3 million in the 12 months to December 2011. The company expects to make a loss for the year. Contracts have been extended, however no new contracts have been signed due to capacity constraints. Dr Stewart White has been appointed to the newly created post of Commercial Director.
