£10m Birmingham Airport contract secured - 90 jobs safeguarded
MITIE Group has secured a £10m contract to provide cleaning and environmental services for Birmingham Airport for five years. 90 people will transfer to MITIE, which will provide terminal cleaning, waste management and pest control services. A structured framework for more services is also in place which could lead to MITIE securing additional work. 2011 turnover £1.89bn, 58,860 employees.

Business expansion - Training business acquired for 17.5m - Increased services
Support services and construction company Interserve, based in Reading in Berkshire, has acquired training and development company Business Employment Services Training (BEST) for 17.5m. BEST operates across South and West Yorkshire and provides training and development for job-seekers and employers. The acquisition will enable the company to increases its delivery of front-line services. Adrian Ringrose is Chief Executive.

Group profits more than double - Revenue rises 2.4 per cent - Loss made at parcel delivery division
Pre tax profit at Rentokil Initial, the Crawley based pest control and courier group, has increased by approximately 150 per cent to 13.4m in the first three months of 2012, up from 5.4m in the same period in 2011. The company has reported a 2.4 per cent increase in revenue from 609.7m in 2011 to 624.4m. The companys parcel delivery business City Link has recorded an 18.7 per cent drop in adjusted operating profit and has noted a loss of 12.7m. Alan Brown is Rentokil Chief Executive.

Partnership with Lloyds Banking - £775m contract secured - potential new jobs
Mitie Group is to provide facilities management services for Lloyds Banking Group. The five-year contract, worth £155m per annum, covers Lloyds branches and offices across the UK. It will be one of the largest private sector facilities management contracts of its type and is expected to create jobs. 2011 turnover £1.9bn, 58,860 employees.

National social housing director appointed - To consolidate division
Outsourcing and energy services company MITIE, has appointed Peter Griffin as its new social housing director with responsibility for consolidating its existing social housing offering under a unified national business. Griffin joined MITIE in 2009 and specialises in social housing maintenance and renewable energy services. Bill Robson is managing director of MITIEs property management division.

Typhoo contract extended - cost efficiencies expected
Facilities management company OCS Group has extended its contract with tea company Typhoo. OCS will continue to provide high-level cleaning at the Typhoo office and factory premises in Moreton, Merseyside and will now also provide other types of cleaning. The contract extension is expected to provide improved quality of service and cost efficiency.

£100m PFI contract secured - New police headquarters - potential new jobs
An Interserve-led consortium has been appointed preferred bidder for a PFI contract to build new divisional headquarters for West Yorkshire Police Authority. The £100m development will include custody suites and an operational training facility. Construction is expected to be completed in 2014.
