New team members appointed to sales team
Danlers Limited has appointed four new staff members to its sales team. Noel Brassey has been appointed as Export Manager, Neil Baldwin as Business Development Executive (North and N.Ireland), Kevin Lancaster as Business Development Executive (Central) and Dan Harris as Business Development Executive (South East). The new staff will be reporting to Victor Chetcuti, Commercial Manager of Danlers Limited.

Factory Closure - Production Moved Abroad - 31 Jobs Lost
Alternator firm Markon Sawafuji in Oakham are to close its factory after 10 years, resulting in the loss of 31 jobs. The company is a joint venture between Cummins Generator Technologies in Stamford and Sawafuji in Japan. Production will now be moved to Mexico and Japan and the factory has been put on the market.

£4.2m private equity investment - MBO - business expansion strategy
Devon-based aerospace component manufacturer Aero Stanrew Ltd has undergone an £8.5m management buyout. WestBridge Fund Managers has invested £4.2m in the MBO. The investment will allow Aero Stanrew to extend its product range and enter new markets.

£8.5m management buyout of electromagnetic components company
Aero Stanrew, the Devon-based supplier of electromagnetic components to the aerospace sector, has been bought by its management for £8.5m. Private equity for the acquisition came from WestBridge Fund Managers, with HSBC providing structured debt. The business employs 170 staff in Barnstaple and its base in Tunisia. The management team is led by Clive Scott and also includes Chris Evans, Owen Rolfe and Peter Vaughan. Phil Crawford-Smith of Westbridges Co-Investment Club is Independant Chairman.

New rail depot approved - 44 acre site - Work starting summer 2012
Hitachi Rail has won planning approval for a rail depot at Stoke Gifford, Gloucestershire. The 44-acre site will create jobs and help improve local rail services when it becomes operational in 2016/17. Work is expected to start in summer 2012, ready for testing trains by the middle of 2015. Andy Barr is Hitachi head of maintenance.

£100k award - Business expansion - 12 jobs created
Paignton-based Syntech has received a £100,000 award to upgrade its production technology, which will create an estimated 12 jobs. The company employs 130 staff and is one of the UK's top 20 electronics manufacturers in its field. Virtually all its products are exported. Mike Badcott and Malcolm Keat are co-directors of the company.

No buyer found - 35 job losses - Sales on a break up basis
Electronics company Controlled Speed entered administration in November, when 35 jobs were immediately lost due to cash flow problems. The last remaining members of staff have been let go after administrators failed to find a buyer for the business. Sales would now be made on a break up basis.

Chemring Group Plc recorded higher 2011 pre-tax profit of £90.8m versus £89.1m in the earlier year period. Also, profit after tax grew to £73.9m from £66.7m. Total revenue was £745.3m compared with £597.1m in 2010, an increase of 25%
