New Managing Director appointed
Accountancy firm Garbutt & Elliott, which has offices in York and Leeds, has appointed Simon Holt as Managing Director of its wealth management subsidiary, G&E Wealth Management. Mr Holt is a former Managing Director of Skipton Financial Services, the advisory arm of Skipton Building Society, which he headed up for 13 years. Russel; Turner is Managing Director of Garbutt & Elliott.

New UK headquarters - potential new jobs
UBS Ltd has completed a deal with developers for a new 700,000 sq ft headquarters at the Broadgate estate in the City of London. Construction is expected to be completed in the final quarter of 2014. The development is expected to create a significant number of jobs.

Bon Marche Acquired - 1,400 Job Losses - 160 Store Closures
Bonmarche, the West Yorkshire-based fashion chain, has been sold to private equity firm Sun European Partners, which also owns the Alexon and Jacques Vert brands. The agreement covers the entire chain apart from three stores, with the firm continuing to run 230 outlets and closing around 160. The store closures mean it will continue to employ about 2,400 of the chain's 3,800 strong workforce.

Merger with accountancy firm in Reading - Two new Partners appointed - Combined income £5m
The Reading office of accountancy firm Chantrey Vellacott DFK has merged with the Target Chartered Accountants office in the town. As a result of the merger Chantry Vellacotts Reading team will double to more than 50 members of staff with a combined fee income of £5m. Approximately 25 former Target staff will relocate to Chantrey Vellacott DFKs offices in Reading, while former Target Directors Richard Frett and Mike McAllister will become partners of Chantrey Vellacott.

Acquires Nestle's headquarters - Nestle moving to Gatwick
Legal & General's property division has purchased confectionery company Nestle's Croydon headquarters. As part of the deal, which was believed to be worth up to £5m, Nestl© is taking a 20-year-lease Legal & General's offices at Gatwick and is relocating 840 staff. Legal & General is consulting with the council on plans for the property.
