30 job losses - restructuring Inverurie factory - focusing on quality meat
Scotch Premier Meat is reducing headcount by 30 at its factory in Inverurie, Scotland, to reduce costs. Following a period of difficult trading conditions the company is focusing on quality and will source 100% Scottish cattle. The number of cattle slaughtered and processed at the factory will fall to 600 a week, from 1,000.

£30m investment in shopping centre - 500 new jobs - 18 new retail premises
Surrey Quays Limited (a joint venture between British Land and Tesco) has been granted planning permission for a 110,000 sq ft extension to Surrey Quays Shopping Centre at Canada Water in South East London creating 18 new shops and restaurants plus four new kiosk units. An extensive refurbishment of the existing shopping centre is also proposed. The project will cost £30m to complete and 500 permanent positions will be created as a direct result. Earnings below expectations - positive outlook
Vending business Snacktime expects revenue to meet expectations in the year to March 2012, while earnings will be slightly below expectations. The company is confident about its prospects for the 2013 full year. Since its acquisition of Venda in 2010 it has rationalised approximately 35% of the workforce but cost savings have been offset by higher costs.

New £6m depot - 58 jobs created - 62nd store for company
London headquartered wholesalers Bestway has opened a new depot in Team Valley, Gatehead, Tyne and Wear. The new development cost £6m and is the companys 62nd site. The new site is 80,000 sq ft and has opened at a former printworks. Fifty eight jobs have been created as a direct result. Younus Sheikh is Managing Director of Bestway.

£1m factory expansion - 30 jobs created - Company Growth
Fish firm Whitelink Seafoods is to create 30 jobs by the end of the summer 2012. The company is investing over £1m in creating a new freezing area, loading bay and work area in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. The firm supplies major supermarkets in Britain and Europe and currently employ 150 staff. James Sutherland Senior and his wife Marie are joint managing directors.

Major UK expansion - opening £20m distribution hub - 150 new jobs
Harry Yearsley is building a £20m distribution hub in Heywood, Lancashire, as part of its ongoing expansion. Up to 150 jobs will be created at the 160,000 sq ft facility which will be followed by a second hub in eastern or southern England. The £122m turnover firm has 1,200 employees, 12 depots and 300 vehicles.

Salad processing plant closed - 140 job losses
Food company Del Monte has closed its salad processing plant in York with the loss of approximately 140 jobs. The future of the site has been uncertain since February 2012, when the company lost a contract supplying salads and coleslaw to supermarket chain Morrisons. 2010: turnover £109.78m, 559 employees.
