Decline in Q4 group revenues - UK revenues up 12%
Victoria Plcs revenue fell for final quarter of the year to March 2012, as its two main market areas, Australasia and the UK, remained challenging. Revenue in Australia fell by 2.6% in the final quarter in Sterling terms. However fourth quarter UK revenues increased by 12%. Full-year profit is expected to meet expectations.

Profits increase to £21.1m - revenue increases to £117m - business growth
Despite challenging trading conditions commercial floor covering manufacturer James Halstead achieved record pre-tax profits of £21.1m for the first half to December 2011. Revenue increased to £117m from £106m in the 2010 first half. Manchester-based James Halstead had 811 employees in 2011 and full-year turnover of £214m.

New overseas contracts worth £1.1m - Export sales to increase 20 per cent
Fencing business Duralock, based in Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, has secured two new overseas contracts in the Middle Eastern camel racing industry with The Camel Federation. The deal, which was secured with support from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is worth £600,000 and a second deal worth £500,000 is also in the pipeline. The companys export sales are to increase by 20 per cent as a direct result. Jeremy Seel is Managing Director.

140 New Jobs - £1m Investment Package - Relocation of Head Office
AROUND 140 new jobs are to be created at bed manufacturers Silentnight after Lancashire County Council agreed a £1million investment package. A further 500 jobs have been safeguarded as a result of the deal, which secures the firms long-term future in Lancashire. The investment ties Silentnight down to Barnoldswick for a number of years and means the company will now be relocating their head office to Pendle. Adrian Fawcett is Chairman.

Shower and tile manufacturer issues profit warning - Revenue down 3%
Shower and tile manufacturer Norcros, which owns Warwickshire-based Triton Showers and Stoke company Johnson Tiles, has issued a profit warning after recording a 3.1% fall in revenue for the 18 weeks to February 2012. The company also reported sales of £102.4m for the six months to September 2011, and secured a £51m refinancing deal in October 2011.

150 jobs lost - Cost cutting programme - Annual Turnover £87.4m
Worcestershire-based carpet firm Brintons could axe 150 jobs as part of an ongoing cost-cutting programme. Consultation has been launched and the cuts could affect its sites in the UK and China. The firm employs about 1,700 people globally, with 630 in the UK including sites in Kidderminster and Shropshire. Brintons Carpets was bought out by the Carlyle Group in September 2011 in a £40m deal to secure its future.
