Birmingham-based financial recruitment specialist Greenwell Gleeson has undergone a management buy-out. Managing Director Rob Lawton acquired the business from its parent company Amadeus FiRe Group and is now planning further UK and international expansion. Two consultants have been appointed to support an increase in client numbers.

Profits up 35% to £8.5m - UK market share increased - ecommerce skills shortage
Recruitment company Harvey Nash recorded a 35% increase in pre-tax profits to £8.5m in the year to January 2012, helped by strong activity in building mobile apps and online retailing and marketing, where there is a skills shortage. The company is optimistic that permanent recruitment in financial services will start to expand in 2012.

Relocating to new offices - potential new jobs - business expansion
G2 Recruitment has taken a ten-year lease on a 3,465 sq ft office in Broad Quay House, Bristol, as part of its ongoing expansion. New jobs could be created at the office, which is owned by Standard Life Investments. G2 also has offices in Manchester, Amsterdam and Houston. 2011 turnover £25.8m, 55 employees.

Two new directors appointed at recruitment firm - Jobs lost at sister company
Recruitment and training company SHL Group Ltd, based in Surrey, has hired two new directors to head up the companys strategy to assist during the economic downturn. Laurence Karsh will be in charge of the North American region and Paul Van Raay will head European operations. In addition, nine advertising personnel at the companys recruitment business Park Human Resources, have been made redundant. Neville Bain is Chairman of SHL Group Ltd.

Melville Craig Aquired - New Jobs - 9,500 Employees
TMP Worldwide has acquired Melville Craig, one of Scotlands leading recruitment companies, in a deal which industry sources value at 20-30m. The company has 260 staff across six offices in Scotland and last year made 4m profit on a turnover of 44m. The new firm will be called TMP Melville Craig.

European online jobs marketplace StepStone has acquired London based Totaljobs Group for 110m (EUR 132m). Stepstone has acquired Totaljobs from Reed Business Information. StepStone is part of Axel Springer, the integrated multi-media company. Rob Perkins is the founder and Chief Executive of Totaljobs Group.

Profits up 10% - growth in international markets
Recruitment firm Hays expects operating profit for the year to June 2012 to be at the top end of market estimates. It recorded a better-than-expected 10% increase in third-quarter gross profit, helped by a 26% increase in net fees in its Continental Europe and the rest of the world division. Year to June 2011: turnover £3.25bn; 7,245 employees.
