Law firm partnership restructure - Internal promotions
Manchester based law firm Pannone has undergone a partnership restructure. Vicky McLynn and Amy Chandler have been promoted from Senior Associate to Fixed-Share Members. Caroline Dawson-Gerrard, Steve Simpson, Luigi Salzano, Dan Morton and Chris Styles have been moved from Senior Associates and Managers to Directors. Seven more staff have become Junior Equity Members. Emma Holt is Managing Partner.

Business expands outside of England - Law firm opens new office - New jobs created
Law firm TLT, based in Bristol in the South West of England, has launched an office in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as part of its expansion outside of England. The new practice will be called TLT NI and will be led by newly recruited partner Katharine Kimber. Four locally recruited solicitors and paralegals have also joined the team. David Pester is Managing Partner.

Acquires Trett Consulting - £3m investment - business expansion
Driver Group has strengthened its range of services with the £3m acquisition of Trett Consulting from Grontmij N.V. Trett, which employs 75 staff, is a dispute resolution and contractual advice consultancy. The acquisition expands Driver Group geographically and provides access to a wider range of markets. Driver Group 2011 turnover £17.36m, 132 employees.

Business acquired - Starting trading 1 July 2012
Anderson Fyfe, which has 43 lawyers at offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, has been acquired by TLT. The newly merged entity will be called TLT Scotland and will commence trading on 1 July 2012.

Northern Ireland office opened - Jobs created - Scottish firm acquired
TLT has opened an office in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The office will employ one partner, four local lawyers and paralegals and concentrate on litigation work. The company has also acquired Anderson Fyfe, which has 43 lawyers at offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Law firm Mayer Brown is continuing to restructure its London office. Up to 20 jobs will be lost including both fee earners and support staff. City corporate and finance teams will be affected by the latest job losses which follow a significant reduction in the number of partners in recent years.

93 job losses - Company Restructure - 250 employees
Shoosmiths has begun a consultation as part of a firm-wide restructure that will see the firm move its focus to conveyancing, medical negligence, high-net-worth wills and probate, and complex serious injury and mixed liability litigation, with the loss of 93 jobs. The consultation is due to end on 23 July 2012.

Expands into Yorkshire - new office - creating jobs
Law firm Freeth Cartwright is opening a Sheffield office on 8 May 2012 as part of its expansion into northern England. The office will open with a small number of staff, but the firm expects to grow quickly in Sheffield and elsewhere in the region. Freeth Cartwright has 500 employees, 2011 turnover was 32.4m.
