£632m loss in quarter - Sales up 8.5% - Uncertain market
Steel maker ArcelorMittal has posted a £632 million net loss in the fourth quarter to December 2011, mostly due to tax and restructuring charges. The company reported a profit of £416 million in the third quarter of 2011. Sales were up 8.5% at £14 billion from the fourth quarter of 2010. Uncertainty about the European economy has lowered steel prices and shipments.
