Cambridgeshire text-to-speech device company Toby Churchill is to open a US office in Denver, Colorado, in July. The US sales division will be a branch of the UK company and will include sales and marketing, customer and technical support, servicing and repairs. Toby Churchill is the company founder.

Revenue up 3% - Profit down 1% - Workforce reduced by 7%
Hull based Smith & Nephew, Europes biggest artificial knee and hip maker, has recorded a 1% fall in profits for the last three months in 2011 to £176m. Group revenue rose 3% for the same period to £698m. The company is to cut costs by £95m and will be reducing its workforce by 7%. Olivier Bohuon is Chief Executive of Smith & Nephew Plc.

Opening office in US - sales expansion

The company expects to complete a number of projects in 2012 which will strengthen and update its product lines. An improved performance for 2012 and beyond is expected.
