Business acquired - £2m factory expansion - 30 jobs created
Plastics packaging company RPC has expanded after acquiring Danish-based packaging business Superfos. RPC has spent £2 million upgrading its Oakham, Rutland, site, creating 30 jobs. The Superfos site in Runcorn, Cheshire, has been closed. Philip Jones is general manager at the Oakham site.

Communisis Plc has expanded its website building, digital app and social media capabilities with two acquisitions: London-based software production agency Kieon, and social media agency Yomego, which has offices in Glasgow and London. Communisis has a strong portfolio of new business opportunities. 2011 turnover was 208m, 1,383 employees.

Macfarlane Group PLC has appointed Graeme Bissett as Chairman of the Board with effect from May 2012. Mr Bisset has served as a Non-Executive Director of Macfarlane since 2004 and Chairs the Audit Committee. £4.5m capital investment - Rhymney site expansion - 20 new jobs
British Polythene Industries has invested £4.5m in a new wash plant at its factory in Rhymney, South Wales, creating 20 new jobs. The expansion will strengthen the companys position as Europes largest polythene waste recycler. It is the only plant in Wales able to recycle waste farm plastics such as agricultural and silage films. 2010: turnover £477.7m; 2446 employees.

Restructuring complete - Profits up to £11.1m - Revnue up to £166m

Profits up 21% to £19.1m - sales increased to £508m
British Polythene Industries 2011 full year adjusted profit before tax increased 21% to £21.6m (2010: £17.9m), helped by a strong performance in Europe. Sales increased to £508m (2010: £478m).
