Company to acquire Belgium packaging firm
Berkshire based paper and plastic packaging materials, and office supplies group DS Smith is proceeding with a proposal to acquire Belgium headquartered SCA Packaging. Miles Roberts is Chief Executive of the DS Smiths Group.

Chairman Steps Down - Successor Appointed
De La Rue plc have appointed Philip Rogerson as a non executive director with effect from 1 March 2012, and Nicholas Brookes will retire as Chairman and as a non executive director following the Annual General Meeting on 26 July 2012. Philip Rogerson will succeed Nicholas Brookes as Chairman on his retirement. Tim Cobbold is Chief Executive Officer, Colin Child is Group Finance Director.

Trading in line with expectations - Cost reductions achieved
Bank note printer De La Rue remains confident that its trading and financial performance for the year ending 31 March 2012 is in line with its expectations. Order intake and enquiries were good in the 6 months to September 2011. Implementation of the improvement plan is progressing well with further cost reductions being achieved.

1,700 sq ft factory extension - 15 jobs created
Specialist labelling company CCL Label is increasing its manufacturing capability in Ashford, Kent, to meet a growing need for its specialist products. The 1,700 sq m extension will create at least 15 new jobs. The company currently employs more than 150 staff at its 4,500 sq m Ashford building. Claire Richardson is European marketing co-ordinator.

Marketing services provider secures contract with Nationwide Building Society - Revenue to quadruple
Communisis Plc, the Leeds based marketing services provider, has been awarded a contract with the Nationwide Building Society. Communisis now have 15 on-site staff at Nationwides Swindon site in creative and marketing communication services. As a result of the new contract the companys revenue is expected to increase four-fold in 2012. Communisis also won Gold Certification issued by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

£150K Loan Secured - Turnover £15m - Company Investment
Sustainable plastics packaging manufacturer Arvensis has secured a £150,000 business loan from Finance Yorkshire. Due to the rise in plastic prices they were short on working capital to fulfil its substantial order book and operating at a reduced level. The company, which has a turnover of £15m, has previously invested £1.25m in new plant to double the production capacity. Stephen Dowe is Joint Managing Director.
