Financial claims management company EMCAS has doubled the size of its Devon workforce to 282 over the past 12 months after opening a new office in Exeter. Demand from consumers who have been mis-sold financial products has increased and the company has developed and launched new specialist services.

Closing Lincolnshire branch - fall in demand for service
HSBC Bank is closing its branch in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, due to a decrease in customers using it. All staff employed at the branch will be redeployed to other branches including Horncastle and there will be no redundancies.

New 21.9m agreement - Wind farm scheme supported
The Co-operative Bank has issued a 21.9m agreement to Banks Renewables, part of the Banks Group, to fund the construction of the Penny Hill Wind Farm in South Yorkshire. Thirty new jobs are expected to be created as a direct result. Completion is expected by the end of 2013.

Profit falls 15.5 per cent - UK operations to be restructured - 1400 jobs at risk
The National Australia Bank is restructuring its British operations, the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks, as a result of a 15.5 per cent drop in group profit following poor performance by its British operations. Net profit for the six months to the end of March 2012 was 2.1 billion Australian dollars (1.3 billion), down from 2.4 billion (1.5 billion) in the same period in 2011. The UK division posted a net profit loss of 36 million dollars (22.3 million) in the first half, down from a 122 million (75.7 million). The restructuring will involve the loss of 1400 jobs by 2015. Cameron Clyne is Group Chief Executive.

Costs reduced by £741m - Profit of £2.66bn - Job losses
Banking giant HSBC has reduced staff numbers by 14,000 to 285,000 across its global business over the year to March 2012 and cut costs by £741 million per year. The bank employs 52,000 people in the UK. HSBC saw pre-tax profits of £2.66 billion in the three months to 31 March 2012, a 30 per cent increase on the previous quarter. Stuart Gulliver is group chief executive.

2217 UK jobs lost - Hertfordshire call centre to close
HSBC is to cut 2,217 jobs across the UK, including 327 at its call centre in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. The call centre, which deals with calls from businesses for HSBC Direct, will close by the end of 2012. It has seen a decline in calls as customers change to online services. Brian Robertson is the chief executive.

1,400 job losses - 35 offices to close - restructuring Yorkshire and Clydesdale banks
National Australia Bank is restructuring Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks following a strategic review. Due to deteriorating economic conditions 29 Financial Solution Centres in southern England will close, as well as six back office locations. More than 1,400 UK jobs will be lost. 2011 turnover 1.5bn, 8,128 employees.
