Company downsize - 990 jobs lost - 30,000 Jobs lost over last 3 years
Lloyds banking Group has confirmed that 990 jobs are to be cut across sites in Romford, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Scunthorpe and as part of its previously announced strategic review. The redundancies will be made across group operations, group executive functions, risk, wholesale and insurance divisions.

£100m Contract Awarded - 50 New Jobs - Company Growth
Santander has awarded Interior Services Group a contract to build and fit-out a £100m data centre in the East Midlands. The project in Narborough, Leicestershire, will involve the construction of two identical buildings, each with an individual gross floor area of more than 161,000 sq ft, which will be built at the same time. Santander expects between 50 and 70 full-time positions to be created when the centre opens.

Profits down 40% - £538m PPI compensation costs
Banking group Santander UK Plc's profits fell 40% to £993m in the year to December 2011. The group set aside £538m to deal with compensation claims for mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI). Excluding this provision, profits fell 6% to £1.5bn. The bank expects 2012 to be a difficult year for the banking industry.

Non Executive Director Appointed - Director for Wholesale to Retire
Lloyds Banking Group have appointed of Sara Weller as a non-executive director. Ms Weller will join the Board with effect from 1 February 2012 and will serve as a member of the Remuneration and the Risk Committees. Truett Tate, Executive Director for Wholesale, has decided to retire from the Group at the Annual General Meeting in May 2012 and will therefore not seek re-election. Sir Winfried Bischoff is Chairman.

New Director appointed at retail and commercial bank
NatWest has appointed Darren Galliford as new Director of Business Banking to cover Exeter, east and south Devon. Mr Galliford will be responsible for running NatWests Business Banking operations which support businesses that turnover up to £2m. He will lead a team of 16 relationship managers across eight locations in the South West including Exeter, Exmouth, Newton Abbott, Axminster, Torquay, Paignton and the South Hams.

700 jobs lost - Restructuring plan - £1.5bn cost savings
Lloyds bank is to cut 700 jobs as part of a move which will ultimately see 15,000 employees made redundant. Chief Executive Ant³nio Horta-Os³rio announced the restructuring plan in June 2011, to save £1.5bn a year by halving the bankâ€™s global presence by 2014.
