Major telecoms contract secured - potential new jobs
Azzurri Communications has been awarded a multi-million pound, five year contract to provide a network and telecoms managed service to Reed Recruitment. It represents the third contract renewal by Reed and confirms Azzurris ability to provide long term support to large, multi-site organisations in the UK. The contract has the potential to create employment opportunities.

Business growth - Revenue rises 10 per cent - Services expanded
London based Inmarsat, a provider of global mobile satellite communications services, has recorded a 10 per cent rise in revenue to 355m dollars for 2012, up from 324m dollars in 2011. The company continues to grow and has added over 2000 of its FleetBoradband terminals between January and March 2012. The companys subscribers have increased to over 55000 during the same period. Rupert Pearce, is Inmarsats Chief Executive Officer.

Outsourcing customer services - ongoing business growth - new call centre faciliites
BSkyB has outsourced customer service management to Firstsource Solutions following significant growth in customer numbers, with many taking multiple products. Firstsource is opening new call centres in Belfast and Cardiff to support the expansion of BSkyB and to maintain excellent levels of customer service. 2011 turnover £6.6bn, 1,6006 employees.

Contract won with council - New speech recognition technology
Azzurri Communications, a provider of managed communications services, and Eckoh Plc, a provider of speech recognition and payment solutions, have won a contract to supply Essex County Council with new speech recognition technology. Eckoh will develop and implement the solution across the Councils customer service operations and Azzurri Communications expertise will assist in its delivery.

Vertu brand disposal - 256m dollar venture capital investment
Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia is planning to sell its luxury Vertu brand to venture capital firm Permira for up to 256m dollars. Negotiations regarding the disposal are believed to be at an advanced stage. Nokia recorded a loss of 1.7bn dollars for the first quarter of 2012.

Brocade, a global networking company, has opened a new regional briefing centre in Bracknell, Berkshire. It has also launched an Innovation Centre where customers can learn about networking environments. The UK expansion is expected to create jobs. Acquired by PMGC Technology - Combined Revenue of 10m
PMGC Technology has acquired Vodafone dealer Phonebox for an undisclosed sum. It has also acquired London and Leamington Spa-based Premier Mobile. Jason Yeomans, the managing director of Premier Mobile, founded PMGC Technology earlier this year to complete the two deals. The acquisition of Phonebox was carried out shortly after the management buyout of Premier Mobile. The deals create a business that will have revenues of more than 10m.

1.04bn takeover by Vodafone - jobs at risk
Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWW) is being acquired by Vodafone for 1.04bn, creating the second largest telecoms operator in the UK. CWW provides high-speed telecoms services to the police and major companies. Some job losses are expected where office lcations overlap. CWW turnover in 2011 was 2.25bn; 6,361 employees.
