Ironbridge fuel store approved - 100 jobs safeguarded
E.on has secured approval to build a store for wood pellets at its power station in Ironbridge, Shropshire. The decision will safeguard 100 jobs at the plant. E.on will burn the wood pellets alongside coal until the site closes in 2015. One generating unit will be converted to use the wood pellets as a renewable fuel source.

Office development nearing completion - 1,000 jobs safeguarded
A 105,000 sq ft office development in Nottingham, which is pre-let to E.ON, is nearing completion. The development, led by Miller Birch, is now at the internal fit-out stage. It should be ready for E.ON to move in by September 2013 and will safeguard 1,000 jobs. E.ONs 2010 turnover was £9.24bn; 15,823 staff were employed.

E.ON profits fall 7.6 per cent at power company
Power company E.ON has recorded a 7.6 percent fall in retail business profits from 2011. The company, which supplies electricity and gas to 4.8 million homes, made profit of 304 million in the UK. Dr Tony Cocker is CEO of E.ON.

Bristol biomass plant approved - 380 new jobs
E.ONs has secured permission to build a 150MW dedicated biomass power station at Royal Portbury Dock in the Port of Bristol. The plant could provide electricity to power 160,000 homes. 325 construction jobs will be created as well as 35 permanent posts to operate the plant and 20 contract roles to carry out maintenance work.

Power station to close - End of running hours - 123 jobs lost
Power firm E.ON is to close Kingsnorth Power Station in Hoo St Werburgh, Kent, with the loss of 123 jobs. The 1,940MW coal-fired power station will have reached the end of its allocated running hours by March 2013. Dr Tony Cocker is chief executive of E.ON UK.

3 board members to leave - Larger than expected losses
Vestas Wind Systems chairman Bent Erik Carlsen, his deputy Torsten Erik Rasmussen, and chief financial officer Henrik Norremark, are to leave the company. The Danish company has suffered a larger-than-expected net loss in 2011 and may not be profitable in 2012.

Secures three biomass contracts - potential new jobs
The Natural Power Consultants Ltd has secured three new biomass contracts, with a brewery in Glasgow, an ice cream manufacturer in Aberdeenshire and Barony College in Dumfries. £3m energy centre - 40 new jobs
Construction work has begun on a £3m Energy Centre at Skypark in Devon which will be operated by E.ON UK Plc. Construction of the centre will create around 40 jobs. The facility is part of the £210m Skypark development, a joint venture between E.ON, St Modwen and Devon County Council.

International expansion - £30m funding secured
Sustainable energy company ENER-G has secured a £30m funding line to help finance its international expansion. ENER-G reported a turnover of £122.4m for the year to 31 March 2011, a 5.8 per cent drop on a year earlier, and a pre-tax loss for the year of £6.4m. Peter Southby is the group finance director.
