The new machinery will allow the company to meet increased demand from customers as the construction industry starts to recover. 2011 turnover £5.37m, 66 employees.

Multi-million pound contract secured - potential new jobs
Siemens Service in Lincoln has secured a multi-million pound contract to provide gas turbines for a natural gas project in Australia. The Lincoln operation has achieved record sales following a major investment. Siemens is relocating part of the business in September 2012. The firm currently has 1,500 employees; further jobs could be created as result of its expansion.

Production expansion - retructuring bakery operations - 160 jobs at risk
Retailer Morrisons is consolidating bakery production at its site in Wigan, in order to increase production. Its bakery in Wakefield will expand by 41,250 sq ft but the Wigan bakery will close down with 160 job losses. The company hopes to relocate as many Wigan staff as possible. 2011 turnover £16.48bn, 132,074 employees.

2,000 potential new jobs - Widnes inter-modal site development - strong business performance
Logistics group Stobart expects to complete development at its Widnes road, rail and sea hub within three years, creating up to 2,000 jobs. Revenues increased to £551.9m for the year to February 2012, from £500.4m in 2011. Pre-tax profits increased to £30.5m compared with £29.5m previously. The group employs a total of 5,500 staff.

£10m funding secured - new decommissioning facility - creating 150 jobs
Lerwick Port Authority has secured £10m funding from the Scottish Government to part-fund a decommissioning centre of excellence in Shetland. The development is expected to create 150 jobs. AF Decom Offshore UK will develop the project which will create a deep-water site for the UK offshore sector.

New £3m brewery opens - Company Growth
The Meantime Brewing Company has opened the largest new brewery in London since before the Second World War. The £3 million development at its site in Greenwich will allow it to produce 17 million pints of craft beers a year when running at full capacity. Nick Miller is Chief Executive.

£300,000 factory expansion - new jobs - exceptional business growth
Craftsman Tools has invested £300,000 to expand its factory in Otley, West Yorkshire, following increased demand for its products. Four jobs have been created and more are expected. The firm, which employs 60 people, increased 2011 sales by 39% to £4.8m and similar growth is expected in 2012. It hopes to increase turnover to £6m.

2 new warehouses - £50m investment - 500 jobs created
Market support firm Prolog is to build two warehouses in Sudbury, Suffolk with a combined floor space of 26,385 sq metres. The new £50m site will create 500 jobs and be ready by 2015. Prolog already employs 430 people in the town. Robert Audley is the chairman.

£21m capital investment - Colne abbatoir expansion
WM Morrison Supermarkets is investing £21m to expand the Woodhead Brothers abbatoir in Colne, Lancashire. An extra 4,445 square metres of space will be created at the abbatoir which is wholly owned by Morrisons. The introduction of state-of-the art machinery will allow thousands more livestock to be processed at the plant.

New wind farm development - Environmental studies to be carried out
Manchester based energy company ASC Renewables are planning to build a wind farm with up to 13 wind turbines on farmland next to a sewage treatment works at Newton Marsh, Tetney, South Humberside. Environmental studies are to be carried out prior to a planning application being made. Mike Denny is Operations Director for ASC.
