400 new jobs - expansion of manufacturing site
Supermarket Morrisons is creating 400 jobs at a new manufacturing site in Somerset by 2014. The company's distribution centre is being extended to provide a fruit and vegetable store and packhouse which will reduce the company's road miles by two million each year. In 2011 Morrison¢€™s recorded £16.48bn turnover and employed 132,074 staff.

Creating 100 engineering jobs - Suffolk - opening R&D centre
Bosch Lawn and Garden is opening a research and development centre in Stowmarket, Suffolk, creating up to 100 jobs for technically skilled engineers. Bosch makes all its cordless and wired lawnmowers in Stowmarket, for export around the world. Parent company Robert Bosch recorded turnover of £322m in 2010 and employeed 1214 staff.

Creating 120 jobs - new car parts distribution centre - regeneration strategy
As part of a £62m regeneration strategy led by Derbyshire County Council, a car parts distribution centre is being built at the Markham Vale business park near Chesterfield. Approximately 120 jobs will be created at the centre, which is being built by Leeds firm Andrew Page. Construction work should be finished by August 2012.

Heating installation company goes into administration - Jobs lost
Heating installation company Gavin Ward Ltd, based in Burnley, Lancashire, has gone into administration. The companys insulation and building services division will be closed, however the heating and plumbing division of the group will continue trading. The company employs approximately 50 people and those working in the insulation and building services division will lose their jobs.

Rutland factory to close - 31 jobs lost
Generator firm Cummins is closing a factory it co-owns in Oakham, Rutland, with the loss of 31 jobs. The factory will close in April 2012 with production moved to Mexico and Japan. Cummins had a 40 per cent share in the company and Sawafuji a 60 per cent share.

£40m expansion plan - 10 New Farms - 100 New Jobs - 5 Year Plan
The Scottish Salmon Company, a fish producer based in Edinburgh, is investing £40m and plans to open 10 farms along Scotlands west coat creating 100 jobs over the next five years. In the past two years, the company has more than doubled staff numbers from 160 to 380 and invested £30m in refurbishing its Marybank processing facility, acquiring West Minch Salmon, developing sites and upgrading existing farms. Factory Closure - Production Moved Abroad - 31 Jobs Lost
Alternator firm Markon Sawafuji in Oakham are to close its factory after 10 years, resulting in the loss of 31 jobs. The company is a joint venture between Cummins Generator Technologies in Stamford and Sawafuji in Japan. Production will now be moved to Mexico and Japan and the factory has been put on the market.

Plant Closure - 200 Lost Jobs - Transfer of production - 100 Jobs Gained
Bed manufacturer Silentnight has confirmed 100 new jobs will be created at its Barnoldswick base. Britainâ€™s biggest bedmaker, which was rescued from closure in May last year, has decided to focus production at its West Craven factory and, as a result, will close its Rest Assured plant in Batley by the end of April with the loss of 200 jobs.
