100 job losses - £25m cost savings strategy - services at risk
Shropshire Council plans to reduce staff headcount by at least 100 over the two years to 2014, to help save £25m. A range of services will be restructured including education, public transport and tourism as part of the cost-saving proposals.

29 jobs at risk - withdrawing FTR buses from York
FirstGroup Plc is withdrawing FTR buses from York, putting 29 jobs at risk. The buses will be replaced with a fleet of easily accessible double decker buses by Easter 2012. The FTR buses will be relocated elsewhere in the group's northern region. In 2011 First Group Plc recorded £6.43bn turnover and employed 127,619 staff.

Construction work has started on a new £5m health centre in Liverpool for Liverpool Primary Care Trust. The health centre is part of the £350m Edge Lane regeneration project which will create new housing and more than 1 million sq ft of commercial and retail floor space.

Closing home care service - 5 jobs lost
The Alzheimer's Society is ending its home care service in Selby, North Yorshire, which supports people with dementia. Five jobs will be lost as a result of the closure. The service had been running at a loss and the society is redirecting resources to other areas of support.

Leeds City Council has established a new joint venture company with NPS Group, a property design and management service company, to provide architectural design services for council construction projects. The new company has been called NPS Leeds and will be partâ€“owned by the council and managed by NPS, with the council retaining equal control on decisions. The councils in-house design team is set to transfer to the new company, safeguarding the jobs.
