Control centre opened- £2.25m capital investment - 100 jobs created
London Fire Brigade's new control centre in Merton, London, has been officially opened, creating 100 jobs. The Government is investing £2.25m in the future purchase of a new â€˜999â€™mobilising system. The fire serviceâ€™s National Co-ordination Centre, will move from West Yorkshire to the new centre in April 2011.

£129m police accommodation project
The Blue Light Partnership, comprising Bilfinger Berger Project Investments and Miller Construction, is the preferred bidder for the £129m Avon and Somerset Police Accommodation PFI Project. The project comprises the development of four new facilities at Portishead, Bristol Patchway, Keynsham and Bridgwater in the South West. The contract also includes responsibility for maintaining the buildings for 25 years. Construction work is expected to commence in summer 2012 with the buildings being open from 2014.

Avon and Somerset Police Authority is building a £129m base in a private finance initiative led by Blue Light consortium. Blue Light, led by Bilfinger Berger Project Investments, will build, finance and operate the base. It will include custody and crime investigation centres, police stations and a firearms training centre. New jobs are expected.

£45m expansion plans - Passenger numbers up 11.5%
Aberdeen airport plans to spend £4.25 million on capital projects in 2012, with £45 million earmarked in total through to 2021. Plans include improving its terminal building, expansion of the international arrivals area, and the opening of a £750,000 car rental facility. Passenger numbers were up by 11.5% in 2011. Creating 1,000 jobs - new base in Manchester - fleet expansion
Ryanair UK Ltd is increasing its fleet from 270 to 305 aircraft and creating five new bases across Europe. The expansion will create more than 1,000 jobs in 2012, including some in Manchester, where one of the new bases will be located. The airline is to recruit pilots, cabin crew, engineers and sales and marketing staff.
