New wind farm development - Environmental studies to be carried out
Manchester based energy company ASC Renewables are planning to build a wind farm with up to 13 wind turbines on farmland next to a sewage treatment works at Newton Marsh, Tetney, South Humberside. Environmental studies are to be carried out prior to a planning application being made. Mike Denny is Operations Director for ASC.

Collaboration with Scottish energy firm - Future jobs
Wind tower producer Wind Towers Limited, based in Perth is to collaborate with Dunfermline based Burcote Wind who is to invest 1bn in developing wind farms in Scotland. The collaboration includes an apprenticeship and training scheme to help create lasting jobs in Scotland. Wind Towers is a joint venture between SSE Venture Capital and Marsh Wind Technology. 1bn investment - Scottish energy firm collaborates with local wind tower producer

The company is to collaborate with Scotlands only wind tower producer, Wind Towers Limited based in Perth and includes collaborating on an apprenticeship and training scheme to help create lasting jobs in Scotland. Sales increase to £6.4m - 38 jobs created - business expansion
Renewable energy company Eco Environments recorded turnover of £6.4m in 2011/12, a substantial increase from £1.3m in 2010/11. It has created 38 jobs, increasing headcount to 50 over 12 months. The expansion follows strong demand for solar panels from domestic customers and significant commercial contract awards. It is planning further expansion of its commercial business.

Infinis contract secured - potential new jobs
Nordex has secured a major contract with Infinis, to supply 2.5MW turbines to five windfarms. The 22 turbines will be installed at two windfarms in Scotland and five in England. Construction work will commence in 2012, with the expected creation of new jobs. 2010 turnover £84.1m, 86 employees.

Tidal energy contract secured - 120 potential new jobs - expansion in renewables sector
Steel Engineering Ltd has secured a contract to build a tidal energy device for Oceanflow Energy. Steel Engineering expects renewables work to treble its turnover in the three to five years to 2015/17. The company also expects to double its current workforce of 120 over the same period.

ScottishPower Renewables and Dong Energy have awarded contracts worth £92m for the transportation and installation of turbine foundations for the 389-megawatt West of Duddon Sands offshore windfarm, off the coast of Cumbria. The contracts have the potential to create employment opportunities.

Expanding Staffordshire premises - £1m renewable energy investment - potential new jobs
Britannia Premier Self Storage is expanding its facility in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The company is investing £1m to add 50-kilowatt solar panels and a new storage building. A £20,000 payout in the first year is expected from the electricity created from the panels that is re-circulated into the power grid.

£365m wind farm approved - £365m investment - 300 jobs
Vattenfall has secured approval from the UK government for a wind farm in Wales, comprising 76 turbines. The £365m wind farm will create or support approximately 300 jobs. Construction could start in 2013 with the first electricity generated in 2016. The wind farm will be able to produce enough energy to supply 206,000 homes.
