Plymouth store closing - job losses
Fashion retailer Zara is closing its store at the Drake Circus shopping centre in Plymouth, with the loss of a significant number of jobs. The store will close on 1 June 2012. The lease on the store has been for sale since 2009. 2011 turnover 332.5m, 2,305 employees.

Opening Hailsham store - 150 new jobs
Retailer Asda is planning to open a new store in the Quintins Shopping Centre, Hailsham, East Sussex, as part of its UK expansion strategy. Up to 150 new jobs will be created at the new store, which will be located in a previously used by the Co-op. 2010 turnover £20.5bn, 283,096 employees.

New Store - 80 New Jobs - Completion in 2013
Retail giant Debenhams is expecting to move into a 30,000 square foot store at a retail park is earmarked for land in Scunthorpe with work due to begin in October 2012. The company expect to begin trading in 2013 creating around 80 jobs.

Business expansion - New retail outlet - 15 new jobs created
Discount chain Poundstretcher, headquartered in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, is continuing to expand and is to open a new store in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Fifteen jobs will be created as a direct result. Ian Dunster is Store Manager.

Dragon Carp Direct is opening a discount fishing tackle outlet store at a garden centre in Stapleford, Nottingham. The retailer is expanding following the success of its first outlet in Spalding, Lincolnshire. New jobs could be created as a result of the expansion.

350 Store Closures - 2,800 Jobs Lost
NEARLY 3,000 jobs will be lost after the administrators of Clinton Cards announced 350 stores face closure. About 200 Clintons branded stores and all Birthdays stores will close with the loss 2,800 full and part-time jobs. The closures will commence immediatly and continue into June 2012.

Creating 19 jobs - opening Crawley store

Proposed New Store - 330 Jobs Created - £25m Investment
Supermarket chain Morrisons plans to redevelop a former B&Q site in Kirkcaldy. The £25million store would also have a petrol station and parking for more than 400 cars. It is expected the project will be completed by the summer of next year and create around 330 jobs.
