Hinckley-based Hammonds Furniture Group has opened a new 1,300 sq ft showroom at Peterborough Garden Park. The fitted furniture specialist has more than 70 showrooms across the country, as well as a presence in another 60 retailers operating as concessions. Jobs created - new outlet opened
Pantrinis Fish Restaurant has opened a new fish and chip shop in North Shields, following the refurbishment of a derelict pub in the town. Eight jobs have been created at the new premises. The company's expansion follows its recognition as the north-east's Fish & Chip Shop of the Year in 2011.

The new store will be built on the former Burghmuir Industrial Estate on the edge of the town centre, as part of a regeneration of that site by Stirling Development Agency. Year to January 2011 turnover was £4.7bn, employees numbered 44,800.

£150m development approved - potential new jobs
Development Securities has secured outline planning consent for a £150m redevelopment around London's Shepherd¢€™s Bush market in a joint venture with Orion Land and Leisure. The redevelopment of the 1.9-hectare site will provide apartments, houses, a 4,000 sq m refreshment area and 6,000 sq m of shopping places, potentially creating a substantial number of jobs.

New Leeds Bradford airport branch
Car rental company Enterprise has opened a new branch at Leeds airport. Pstrons previously had to take a 10-minute shuttle ride to reach the rental desk. Enterprise operates 16 airport branches around the UK and Ireland. Brian Waligora is the north England regional managing director.

Creating 40 jobs - opening store in Penrith
Go Outdoors Ltd is opening a 36,000 sq ft store in Penrith, Cumbria, creating 40 jobs. The store will offer more than 20,000 outdoor products, including clothing and equipment for pursuits such as walking, skiing, cycling and camping. For the year to January 2011 Go Outdoors recorded turnover of £115.2m and employed 551 staff.

J Sainsbury Plc expects to create approximately 400 jobs at a proposed new store in Thornton, Lancashire. The company has launched a public consultation on plans for the 50,000sq ft store which will form the first phase of the council's proposed local centre. In 2011 Sainsbury¢€™s recorded turnover of £21.1bn and employed 148,400 staff.
