Updated 1st May 2013 -  This accounting year has seen UK turnover in the Mechanical Engineering, Materials Processing and Industrials sector companies monitored increase by 0.7% to approximately £333bn, while operating profits have risen by 0.5% to £18.4bn.  Employee numbers have fallen by 0.5% to 1,545,601 people in this last year.  In the last 3 years turnover has risen by 5%, and employee numbers have decreased by 1% over the same period.
